IA QR Code Scavenger Hunt

Our weekly G1 IA training session took on another format this week.  I decided to have the IAs go on a QR Code Scavenger Hunt for a fun way of learning and practicing apps.  The hunt began in the IS Upper Library Loft where IAs saw a sign....

QR Code shown above is inactive

IAs then searched the loft for QR Code Clues on the wall.  After scanning the code, they had to listen carefully to the clue to find out where they needed to go next and what app they needed to practice.

CLUE #1

The clue sent them to Kamilah's desk where IAs were instructed to make a Yakit.  Then, IAs needed to find the next clue.

CLUE #2

This clue had IAs moving to p302 and make a green screen video using the app, Green Screen by DoInk.  The nature of this app made it essential for IAs to work together to complete this task.  It was wonderful to see how helpful they were with filming for a partner and instructing others how to use the app.  Once their green screen movie was made, another clue awaited next to the filming area.

CLUE #3

The previous clue had the IAs moving back to the tech loft for one last app practice.  At this station, IAs were to make a Doodlecast of their favorite app.

CLUE #4

Yay!  Upon completion of the QR Code Scavenger Hunt, the IAs were treated to some parting gifts for their participation....ipad sleeves and stick-on keyboards.

Overall, this format was a nice way to engage IAs in the learning process.  They had to decipher clues and practice using 4 different apps all in just a 30 min training session.  They were amazing at working together and accomplishing a ton with very little help from the tech coach.

A special thank you to Kamilah for her help with riddles, clues, QR codes, and the training.  Another special thank you to Jeaney for organizing the gifts and helping with the training as well...they loved them!!
