iLEARN iPad Rules

Tech classes for grade 1 students begin with the iLEARN iPad Rules. We discuss the importance of leading a balanced online and offline life.  The ipad is referred to as a 'sometimes' activity just as cupcakes are a 'sometimes' food.  It is essential for these young learners to know that they should be exploring other tools to show their thinking as well.  Another key component to the iLEARN iPad Rules is making students aware that they should only be exploring 'just-right' apps and websites.  We connect this rule with the fact that they only choose 'just-right' books to read and the content in certain apps and on some websites isn't 'just-right' for their age.  The last two letters of iLEARN iPad Rules refer to respecting others work and never sharing personal information.  Blogging will be introduced this year with a focus on respectful posts and commenting.  In conjunction, students are only to use first names.
